Opening the book…
Losses need processing or you repeat them, but rumination past a point produces no new information and quietly erodes the nerve you need for the next attempt. A time limit forces you to extract the lesson rather than re-live the feeling. One change gets implemented; five changes get abandoned by Thursday.
Give it the evening properly — feel it, go over it, talk it through with someone. Before you sleep, write the single thing you will do differently and where it applies. The next morning, the loss is a closed file and the change is on your list.
Some defeats are structural rather than tactical — a failed business, a broken relationship — and those genuinely need months, not an evening. And if the same loss keeps arriving in the same shape, stop taking one change out of it and go looking for the cause underneath.
