Opening the book…
Unnamed fear expands to fill whatever space you give it, and it cannot be planned against because it has no shape. Once you write down the actual worst case, it is almost always both smaller than the dread and something you can prepare for. Vague fear costs you a week; named fear costs you an hour.
Write the sentence out: "I am afraid that they will say no and I will have to start again in March." Then write what you would actually do in that case. If you cannot finish the sentence, you have found something worth examining rather than a real threat.
Some anxiety is chemical rather than situational, and naming outcomes for it just generates a longer list. If the fear does not attach to anything specific no matter how honestly you look, treat it as a health matter, not a courage matter.
