Rule 32 of 32 · Chapter VI — The Long Echo
Decide what you want an ordinary Tuesday to look like, then arrange your life around that answer.
Why this rule exists
Most people optimise for peak moments — the promotion, the trip, the win — and then live the other three hundred and fifty days in something they never chose. Ordinary days are almost all of your life. If the shape of a normal week is wrong, no achievement at the end of it will fix that.
In practice
Describe a good average Tuesday in concrete detail: who you see, what you make, when you eat, what your body does, what wakes you and what puts you down. Compare it to last Tuesday. Change one structural thing — a commute, a commitment, a start time — rather than resolving to feel differently about the same week.
When it doesn't apply
Some seasons are legitimately abnormal: a newborn, a build, an illness, a hard push with an end date. Accept those, but name the end date, and check it hasn't quietly become the new normal.
